When applied to sequential multi-component separation, DWC prime can separate the feed into two or more purified streams within a single tower thus eliminating the second tower. DWC Prime over comes the limitation of conventional distillation sequences. Unlike regular columns, our columns have a defining wall in the column to separate the tower into two sections . Different fractionation zones are created in the column due to the wall. The zone in the column where the feed is introduced works to effectively separate the heaviest and the lightest key. A rectifying zone exists on the other side of the column, where the side stream is withdrawn.
The middle boiling components are concentrated in this zone. Aided by the different separation zones, the purity of the three product stream is higher than the conventional tower at the similar heat duties. By eliminating remixing of components with the help of the wall, DWC Prime achieves high thermodynamic efficiency.
